Butterball Cookbook Plus Review

Butterball Cookbook Plus helps users plan and cook their meals for virtually any holiday or special occasion, and its many integrated features make cooking large meals a breeze. It is a universal app that is designed specifically for each iOS device. When it’s opened, users will notice scrolling pictures of food as well as a toolbar that includes titles like Recipes, My Recipe Box, Meal Builder, Store and Info.

Tapping on Recipes brings up a total of 250 recipes that can be browsed or explored. Each recipe has icons with ratings and the level of difficulty. When a recipe is tapped users can see the details, ingredients, serving size, and preparation information. Additionally, there’s a note section where users can add their own memos, and a Plus button that lets users save it to their Recipe Box, add it to their meal builder, add the ingredients to their shopping list, and share, email, or print the recipe. Furthermore, users can tap on the info button to view conversions, substitutions, timers, how-to videos, and more.

The feature that I enjoyed the most is that rotating the iOS device allows users to easily view the recipe without having to constantly scroll up and down to find the step they need. When the device is rotated, the recipe appears on virtual note cards that can be scrolled through with ease. Furthermore, a Voice Command button makes it possible to go through the preparation steps without ever touching the iOS device. Users just speak simple commands to move to the next step, view notes, and manage timers.

While Butterball Cookbook Plus is free, but the disappointment is that there are only 250 recipes. Additional recipe packs are available through in-app purchases and downloads and include recipes with themes like New Cook Thanksgiving Menu, Gluten-Free Thanksgiving Menu, and an International Menu. The prices range from $0.99 to $2.99. However, not all recipe packs come at a price. Butterball also offers a free section that lets users download a pack of recipes every month. September’s download pack includes game day recipes.

All in all, Butterball Cookbook Plus is more than just a cookbook, which makes it well worth adding to the app collection. While it has a heavier focus toward the holidays, it’s ideal to use year round. Download it today and keep it on hand for future meal preparations.
