Bokeh is a term used in photography that refers to the blur effect in the area that is out of focus in a picture. If used correctly, the bokeh effect can add an artistic effect and bring objects to the forefront of the photo. Bokeh Lens is a photo editing app that is dedicated to giving any photo a nice touch of bokeh. It’s extremely easy to use and does exactly what it advertises to do.
There are many photo editing apps that include a lot of different filters and editing capabilities within one app. These one-stop-shop apps are great but sometimes I just want an app that does one thing really well. Bokeh Lens is only able to add one effect to photos but it accomplishes this task very well. The app gives users the chance to edit any photo in their camera roll or take a new picture directly within the app. Once a photo is taken the entire photo will be blurred out. The edit tool is needed to highlight the area that users want to clear up and bring to the front of the photo. The edit tool works really well and I was surprised at how detailed it allowed me to be. The tool is probably one of the most accurate I’ve used and even displays a box that magnifies the area being edited so users can easily see what they are doing.
There aren’t very many things that can be tweaked in the app but the main thing that can be adjusted is the amount of bokeh that will be applied. For an app the only applies one effect, I wouldn’t expect there to be more settings or tweaks than this. However, there are quite a few export options including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and even Flickr that allow users to share their fresh photos with friends.
I can’t say that I have any complaints about Bokeh Lens. I don’t even have a wish list of items that I’d like to see added. The app does exactly what it advertises to do and won’t leave bokeh-loving photographers wanting for more. For only $0.99, Bokeh Lens is a great photo editing app to worthy compliment the rest of the various apps we carry with us on our iPhones.
