Keeping things minimalistic, 10 is a satisfyingly challenging puzzle game about making 10 out of smaller numbers.

Sometimes, it's the simplest ideas that prove most enjoyable. As simple as its name, 10 is such a game. The player's sole aim is to create blocks of 10 by combining multiple numbers together. It sounds easy but that's quite far from the truth once one has traversed its early stages.

At first, it's just a matter of flicking tiles together. The solutions are quite obvious, mostly because there are so few numbers at one's disposal. Get past the first bunch of levels, however, and things turn more challenging. More tiles are placed on screen, with the added obstacle of solid tiles that cannot be moved aside. 10 ensures that things are gradually introduced so rarely is one overwhelmed, but that doesn't stop those head-scratching moments beloved of so many puzzle games.

Eventually, there's the prospect of multiplying numbers in order to get to 10. This can get tough, much the same as a level full of 20 or so tiles can get very tricky. That's right at the point where I found myself in the zone, though. I wasn't intimidated by it, I just appreciated the challenge. 140 levels are available in all, and while the early ones can be breezed through later stages will last a fair while, leaving players to ponder over the best method to pursue. An undo button ensures they can always go back step by step, rather than have to start at the beginning.

10 doesn't bother with timers or restricting the amount of moves one can complete the level in. It's just about the satisfaction of beating it. It's pure in that sense, with no achievements or in-app purchases to muddy the gaming waters.

For that reason, 10 is consistently enjoyable, and it rightfully deserves to be played by many. Sometimes the most brainteasing experiences can be done in the simplest of ways, and this game richly demonstrates that.
