Another week has passed, which means it's time for us to pick the five best games that have come out over the past week. What for? Why, so you, our dear readers, can pick one of them to win our game of the week award, obviously.

The coveted prize is only awarded to the games that you think are the cream of the crop, and come the end of the year every game of the week award winner will be vying to become 148App's reader's game of the year. If that isn't incentive, well I don't know what is.

There are a number of different ways for you to cast your vote. You can leave a comment on this article letting us know which game you'd like to win. You can tweet us your choice using the hashtag #148GOW, or you can leave us a heads-up on our Facebook page. Simple. Okay, let's get on with the games you have to pick from.

Wall Kickers - download for iOS

It's impressive how small changes to familiar ways of playing can make something feel fresh. But that's exactly the case in this excellent one-touch platformer. It might have the look of something you've played before, but there's much more going on here.

Why we think you'll like it: By introducing some clever backflip mechanics, and never letting you settle into an easy rhythm, Wall Kickers ups the challenge level while still being accessible. It looks great, it plays great, and it might just BE great.

Alphabear 2 - download for iOS

A game that's so full of charm that once you've played it, even just thinking about it is going to make you smile. Collect bears, make words, and work your way through everything this beautiful game has to offer.

Why we think you'll like it: Not only is this one a joy to play, it's a really challenging and intelligent puzzler. There's a depth here that other word games don't have, and while it is free to play, the monetization is handled well enough that it never wipes the grin off your face.

Returner Zhero - download for iOS

A big sci-f adventure with flashy graphics and a super-interesting story? Yeah, that sounds like it's going to be right up our street. Which is good, because that's exactly what Returner Zhero is.

Why we think you'll like it: Because sometimes you want a good slab of meat on your game, and Returner Zhero delivers on that in spades. This is the sort of game you're going to show off to your non-mobile-playing friends so they can see what they're missing out on.

Onitama: The Board Game - download for iOS

What happens when you mash up chess and Clash Royale? Well, you get something like Onitama: The Board Game. It's a brilliant, easy to understand game that's got fathoms of depth once you get into it.

Why we think you'll like it: This is the sort of board game experience that mobiles do best. Short sharp scraps with plenty of thinking behind every move. You'll cram a game into a few minutes, but you'll still feel like you've given your brain a strenuous workout.

Small Cargo - download for iOS

Sure there are games on this list that are full of brilliant ideas and depth, but then there's Small Cargo. It's a game that you pretty much understand the ins-and-outs of after the first time you've played it. That doesn't mean you're going to be getting bored though.

Why we think you'll like it: This is a simple game about moving cargo from A to B, but the controls hide a pretty difficult challenge. Delivering a crate after a few failed attempts feels amazing, and it's going to push you on to try and deliver the next one.
