The Walking Dead: Road to Survival lets you build your very own section of Woodbury and stock it full of survivors, food, weapons, and materials.

There's also a separate story mode in which you take on waves of walkers and human enemies in tense and strategic turn-based battles.

This guide focuses exclusively on combat and includes a few tips and tricks to keep you walking as oppose to being dead.

Learn the rock-paper-scissors trait system

Most characters and enemies inRoad to Survivalare assigned to a trait out of Tough, Alert, Fast, or Strong and each of these traits are strong and weak against another. The image below gives you a full breakdown of how it all works.

If a trait is stronger than another it deals extra damage to it and that works in reverse if it's weak.

Before a battle begins you're given the traits of the enemies you're likely to face so you can plan accordingly. Pick characters that are strong against that trait.

Level up, upgrade, and give gear to your favourite characters

You can (and should) level up your favourite characters by combining them with other characters. This costs food - a valuable resource - but is worth doing so to ensure your characters are always prepared for what's ahead.

You can also upgrade them using items you gather when playing through the story missions but you have to be a reasonably high level to do this and it costs a lot of money. It's worth it though as your characters gain a sizeable boost in stats.

Finally, you can equip characters with new weapons that you gain from completing missions and using weapon tokens. These come in a variety of different rarities and increase your damage by a sizeable amount.

Craft items to help you in battle

Once you've built a workshop, you can start crafting items that will help you in battle. These items can heal your teammates or incapacitate enemies.

They do cost valuable resources to create so it's best not to create vast quantities in one go but having a small stockpile prepared in case things go wrong in the heat of battle is advisable.
