The ultimate Astrokings beginner’s guide

Astrokings could very well be the sci-fi strategy RPG your mobile games library desperately needs. Created by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff (famed for writing the best-selling Illuminae series)Astrokings places players in control of a human civilization as it struggles to ward off an encroaching alien force.

You’ll manage entire planets, build space fleets, and govern intergalactic policy as you play through the game’s rich story. Plus, there’s plenty of multiplayer and PvP action for folks who like to play with friends.

Astrokings is now in open beta in US, UK, Canada and Australia, so if you fancy having a go, we’ve laid out a few key tips to help you get started with the game.

Work on unlocking the Academy

The Academy allows you to recruit heroes and appoint them to various tasks. These characters will grant you special buffs and bonuses in all aspects of the game, so it’s important you unlock the Academy as soon as possible.

To do so, play through the game’s tutorial and complete the Commander Missions until around level 9 to 10.

Complete achievements to become more powerful

You can earn achievements by completing the sundry tasks Astrokings assigns to you. To view your achievements, tap the portrait in the upper-left corner and then select “Achievement” from the bottom of the screen. Work towards the tasks listed here to earn achievements and gain in-game currency.

Don’t worry about grinding - play through the story at your own pace

Astrokings rewards players simply for completing missions and achievements, meaning there’s no need to play through old content to grind for your resources you need to progress. Play through the game at your leisure, and you’ll find you have everything you need when the time comes.
