The weird and actually rather disturbing world of Fallen London from Failbetter Games is officially making the jump from web browsers to mobile - fish monsters and all.

Fallen London is a sort of story-driven online adventure in which players create a character, train various skills, use those skills to complete increasingly difficult jobs, then use the spoils from those jobs to unlock new missions and stories as well as get some fancy new duds. And it's all set in a sort of post-Cthulhu apocalypse where London has sunken into a vast underwater cavern.

In other words a whole lot of people have basically been trapped in an H.P. Lovecraft-style nightmare with elder gods, horrible mutations, a complete lack of sunlight, and no escape. Doesn't it just sound like the most lovely place to live?

Fallen London will be available as a free download later this year, with in-app purchases available for "premium stories" and other perks. Current players haven't been forgotten, either - the iOS version will sync with your current character, and even allow for offline play.
