The Elder Scrolls: Legends has finally arrived on iPhone and iPad, along with its recent Skyrim expansion. Legends is a free-to-play CCG, but it doesn't pull any punches. It's a game you can pick up in an afternoon, but takes quite some time to truly master.

You may be overwhelmed by the sheer depth of the gameplay, but don't despair. That's where we come in to help. Here are a few beginner tips that cover everything from deck building to battle. Off we go.

Play through the story

You may be eager to duke it out with some real life opponents to find out what your fledgling deck is really made of, but don't be too eager. Playing through the story campaign is good fun, plus it's an excellent way to get your feet wet before you enter the cut-throat world of competition. Finishing the story will help hone your skills.

Watch the pros

The best way to learn, though, is by example. Luckily Elder Scrolls: Legends has had some time to gain a lot of traction with its PC release, and there are a good number of professional players that stream the game quite often. They tend to specialize in a certain class, so it's a good way to gain some targeted knowledge.

IAmCVH is a good option for beginners. He has been streaming since the beta days, and his videos are always helpful. He even does personalized coaching sessions.

Make sure your race lines up with your deck

You can change your race at will in this game, so if you decide you want to make the change from Khajit to Dark Elf you're free to do so. Just remember that each race gets their own unique bonus cards that favor some stats over others. Make sure that these bonus cards are in line with the strategy you're aiming for in your current deck to get the most out of them.

Go for an Arena run

Arena runs will cost you 150 gold, but they are a great opportunity to prepare for competition, and you can get a free pack of cards out of the deal. Arena challenges require you to build a deck from the ground up, so it's also an ideal chance to exercise deck building strategies.
