The 4 best mobile sandbox games

Minecraft
and other sandbox games of its kind have taking the larger world of gaming by storm, but mobile technology has only just caught up in recent years, and only now are we seeing large scale sandbox games make their way to iOS and Android.

With that said, there are still bunches of quality sandbox games on iOS that aren't Minecraft: Pocket Edition. Here are four of our favorites.

Bully

Rockstar's Bully never saw the fervent fame that the studio's Grand Theft Auto series received, but it's still an excellent game and a cult favorite. In this school yard sandbox, you'll bully and prank your way through the prep school food chain. The game translates quite well to mobile and this updated version features refined textures and lighting.

Crashlands

Crashlands immense open world offers countless things to do. There are beastly aliens to defeat, and hundreds of crafting recipes to unlock. Crashlands expertly weaves a compelling sci-fi story, but it's also an all-consuming sandbox game you won't want to miss.

Terraria

Terraria's beautiful pixel art belies one of the finest sandbox games on any platform at the moment. Anything's possible within Terraria, allowing players to create entire cities while enjoying a lovely story and some of the finest action-adventure gameplay on mobile devices.

Gangstar: West Coast Hustle

Gameloft tried to recreate the classic Grand Theft Auto series with the Gangstar franchise, and they met true success with Gangstar: West Coast Hustle, the second entry in the series. The game sets you loose on a re-imagined version of Los Angeles. You'll drive around completing quests and getting into all sorts of gunfights and car chases. It's good fun.
