Clash of Clans developer Supercell announced their next big game today -- Brawl Stars. It's a 3-vs-3 top-down shooter in that iconic, cartoony Supercell style. The company debuted gameplay footage via a live competition (above) today that also explained some of& Brawl Stars' finer details.

Players select their favorite Brawlers before fighting it out in four fast-paced game modes to collect crystals. You can upgrade your Brawlers using an assortment of items and unlock more exclusive varieties. Supercell is really embracing the competitive nature of the game -- players can group up into Bands to strategize and fight together as a unit.

The four gameplay modes are unique, requiring different strategies for each. It's certainly a fresh take on the mobile brawler, bringing in elements of League of Legends to spice things up. The four modes are:

  • Bounty: Each opponent you eliminate wins a star for your team, but try not to be taken out by the enemy first. The team with the most stars wins.
  • Smash & Grab: The two teams face off while trying to be the first to collect 10 crystals from the center of the map.
  • Heist: Break into the opposing team's safe or defend your own in this take on "Capture the Flag"
  • Showdown: This free-for-all style mode tosses 10 players into a gradually shrinking arena. The last Brawler standing is the victor.

Apart from that, details on Brawl Stars are still sparse. Judging by past Supercell releases, it's probably safe to say we can expect the game on both iOS and Android.

What do you think of Brawl Stars? Will it be able to hold up to Clash of Clans and Clash Royale?
