Byte Squared announced yesterday that Office², their productivity office suite software, has been updated to include a change tracking feature. This brings the software even closer to being as fully featured as typical desktop office suite software like Microsoft Office.

Users can now receive, record, reject, and accept editing changes with or without internet connectivity, according to Byte Squared. In addition, users will be able to create and edit newer office documents, like the newer Excel and PowerPoint formats, .xlsx and .pptx. The update also includes the ability to add, edit, and delete comments, as well as the ability to store and retrieve documents using Microsoft's own SkyDrive cloud storage system, a feature that should make the iPad and iPhone even more attractive to users that rely on the service.

“The ability to track changes, as well as view and edit comments are also something that our users have frequently requested,” said Simon Bates, CEO of Byte Squared. "This update really opens up a field of opportunities for Office², especially in business and legal environments. We’ve created a flexible, convenient, and efficient mobile productivity tool that is now even more suitable for professional use.”

Office² was created to help users view, edit, and create word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation documents on the iPhone and iPad. It allows for the transfer of these and other document types, like PDF, to and from local drives, Google docs, DropBox, Box.net, and now SkyDrive.

Office² HD is available now in the App Store for $7.99 for the iPad version and $5.99 for the iPhone one. The developer also offers a free version of the app.
