NinjAwesome: Tips and tricks to be a more awesome ninja

Sorry about that headline, but I'm going to go ahead and assume that GameResort would not have named its game NinjAwesome without expecting some of that. It is, in fact, pretty awesome the way it combines an endless runner and old school arcade style action, so the adjective is properly used here.

This isn't a complicated affair by any means, but perfecting your ninja skills does take a little practice. If only some way the wisdom of ninjas through the ages could be transmitted to those who seek to utilize those arts in the present ...

Wait, there is! Follow our NinjAwesome tips and tricks and you'll be sprinting, jumping and shuriken-ing your way to glory that much faster.

Go ninja, go ninja, go!

NinjAwesome actually has a pretty nice tutorial that explains the basics of movement and combat. You tap on the left side of the screen to jump, tap again to double jump (which you can do at any time, even in mid-air, because ninja), and swipe down and hold for a slide attack. Tapping on the right side of the screen throws shuriken, your main way to dispatch enemies.

Unless, of course, you'd rather flip those sides of the screen around. Tap the gear icon in the upper-right corner to take advantage of that option.

Know your goal

Starting a run is as easy as tapping on one of the quests on the right side of the main screen. The important thing is to understand what you are trying to do. Common goals include:

  • Espionage - Collect a certain number of secret scrolls
  • Infiltration - Survive to travel a specified distance

Once you've successfully completed a level, it becomes unavailable to you until a cooldown timer expires, unless you agree to watch a video.

It's worth noting that the second your goal is complete, the run ends. So for instance, if your goal is to break three bridges and you realize you've just jumped to break one that would normally have you fall to your doom, no worries. As soon as the bridge breaks, you'll be magically transported away, victory secure.

Why your chests are locked

If you happen to play Clash Royale, you already know the answer to this one. Every successful run gets you a treasure chest, but you can only collect four of them, and they open only after a timer has expired -- and only one chest can be on the timer at a time. It's a way to both limit advancement and keep people logging in multiple times a day.

NinJems, the game's premium currency, can be used to speed the process. But the thing to remember is that once all four chest slots are filled, you're missing out on rewards if you continue to play.

Good upgrade, or the best upgrade?

There's only one screen you have to worry about for self-improvement, and that's accessed by tapping on the button with the man flexing. The upgrade screen shows you how many coins you need to spend to upgrade in five different ways:

  • Shuriken - Throw more of them before having to wait
  • Slide - Perform longer slide attacks
  • Health - Somewhat self-explanatory
  • Seeker - A powerup you can find while making a run, this extends the time your shuriken will head toward enemies like heat-seekers
  • Magnet - Another powerup found during play, it pulls coins toward you by magic -- or science, or whatever

All of these are helpful, and you should upgrade whenever you afford it. However the best upgrade to make right away is additional Health. When you start out in NinjAwesome, one blow from an enemy and you're dead. Get this up to at least two right away and you'll thank us later.
