Pokémon GO got a big update today, adding a sprinkling of new Pokémon and special festive Pikachus donning Santa hats. It might not be as exciting as we imagined, but it very well could be the start of a gradual roll-out of new Generation II Pokémon. Here are the new Pokémon that we can confirm have made an appearance so far.

While the official announcement doesn't hide the fact that the series' flagship "baby" Pokémon Pichu and Togepi can now be found in-game, there are a few others you can snatch up as well. You can get eggs housing new Pokémon at PokéStops, though Niantic says the odds of finding them at partner stores like Sprint, Boost Mobile, and RadioShack increase your chances of getting eggs that hatch new Pokémon. You'll then have to walk two, five, or ten kilometers to get the eggs to hatch.

Intrepid trainers are braving the cold December weather to confirm that baby Pokémon have indeed been added to the game. What's more, once you have one in your posession, the Pokédex expands to include the Johto Pokémon from Generation II(152 - 251). According to Pokémon GO News, both Cleffa (evolves into Clefairy) and Igglybuff (evolves into Jigglypuff) hatch from two kilometer eggs, while Togepi and Pichu hatch from five kilometer eggs. Redditors on the Silph Road Subreddit also confirmed that Magby and Elekid (which evolve into Magmar and Elektabuzz respectively) can hatch from ten kilometer eggs.

With all of this news coming out of the woodwork, it's clear that we'll need to lace up our running shoes if we want a chance at finding these new Pokémon anytime soon. But Niantic is likely to add new monsters that will appear in the wild sometime soon.
