A digital version of popular tabletop game Mysterium is arriving on iOS and Android in early December. The mobile version brings the original game's classic artwork and co-operative gameplay to the online space, allowing players to play together from afar.

If you haven't played the tabletop version, the game works like this. One player is the ghost, and they're responsible for sending visions to the other players to help them solve the mystery of the ghost's murder. Players work together to decipher the visions to determine the murder weapon, the culprit, and the setting in a similar vein to Clue.

Mysterium's digital version will work similarly, although players will be able to choose between single player and multiplayer modes. The single player story mode sends you back in time to the 1920s to assist psychic Mr. MacDowell to determine why a ghost is haunting the halls of Warwick Manor. If you get tired of the initial story, adventures with five more psychics will be released after the game's launch. Hidden Signs, an expansion with even more mysteries, will also be available to purchase at the time of Mysterium's release.

Multiplayer mode will be more familiar to folks who have tried the tabletop version. Up to seven players collaborate over in-game chat to interpret the ghost's visions and solve the mystery. As in the original version, players can share their visions with others, and approve or disapprove of players' interpretations by marking them with Clairvoyance Tokens.

Mysterium is an interesting take on narrative tabletop games with its non-competitive mechanics that really unleash player creativity. It's always fascinating to see how your interpretations of the cards differ from those of the ghost's. It'll be exciting to see how the digital version approaches the game. When Mysterium lands on iOS and Android next month, you can snag it for $6.99.
