As the moody, string bass laden notes of Lonewolf’s opening theme makes its way through your earbuds, it’s plain to see that you will be easily absorbed by this game.

Catchy music, satisfying tactile sound effects, and excellently crafted comic-style artwork give FDG Entertainment’s sniper adventure a rare polish.

Not only that, the sniper-heavy gameplay is nuanced and deep. You won’t be coasting through this game without stopping to use your brain once or twice.

Luckily, we have a few tips and tricks to help make your journey towards becoming a master sniper a smooth one.

Examine the scene before taking action...

Taking out a target isn’t about how fast you can do the deed. Instead, it pays to take a bit of time to line up the perfect shot (don’t take too long though, or the enemy might spot you).

Each mission needs to be approached differently. Sometimes it’s not simply about eliminating someone who’s in the way. At times, you need to take the environment into consideration, removing any alarms that might cause you trouble.

Sometimes the wind might alter the accuracy of your shot. If you’re after multiple people, it helps to plan out the order in which you will snipe them. Doing this incorrectly means the other people on the scene will notice you, and then it’s game over! Patience is key, especially when your lives are limited.

...unless it’s a shooting gallery style level

Lonewolf likes to keep things fresh, and every once in a while you’ll find yourself caught in a firefight. This isn’t the time for careful planning and lining up the perfect headshot. Your enemies won’t take mercy on you, so pay them back in kind.

Do aim to prevent yourself from having to reload too frequently, but don’t worry about meticulously setting up the shot. Fire offensively, taking out targets before they get the chance to finish you off instead.

Buy stuff

Successfully completing missions awards you with a bit of money - so use it!

As you progress through the game, mechanics will evolve and new purchasable items will pop up. These add-ons will help greatly as Lonewolf becomes increasingly complex.

One handy item, a modded scope for your sniper rifle, helps you aim from distances greater than 300 meters, significantly improving accuracy. Buying new gear can save you from any future headaches.
