iPad App Preview: Mixr

One of the more interesting usage possibilities for the iPad that we haven't seen much about so far has to do with music performance and creation. We've seen some amazing apps on the iPhone in this genre, so it follows that we will even more interesting apps in the genre for the iPad.

Mixr is one of those apps, a DJing app that simulates 2 turntables. Mixr includes some great features like that ability to change the speed of playback by touch, ability to record the mixes, playback effects, and a great album view. Mixr looks like great DJ app and just the tip of the iceberg for this app genre.

What is Mixr?

It's a DJ Mixing application for the iPad. We actually started designing it back in 2008.

We hope for mixr to become the first ever professional DJ application for iPad. With Mixr, causal mixing and professional mixing merge to become a new form of mixng your music. Features core functionality, cross-fading, equalizing, cue, drag & drop tracks, and full effects such as delays and auto filter. Mixr gives you a DJ experience unlike anything you've ever touched before.

The Turntables
Mixrs turntables look and feel just like real the real thing. To mix your music, all you have to do is touch the vinyl records with your fingers. You can play it, stop it, run it backwards and even control the pitch and scratch! To manipulate the sound, simply rotate the vinyl with your fingers, it's that easy! Here's a quick list of the some things Mixr can do.

The Library
Why does every DJ App has to have complicated track lists with ugly interfaces. Forgot that! Mixr has pioneered a revolutionary new way for DJ's to search their music, and they've been doing it for decades. Thats right! Turn your iPad and your DJ crate magically appears. Simply flip through your albums and tap to load your favorite LPs. It feels so natural, its almost like the real thing. This aint no overly used coverflow API, this is Mixrs custom API under the hood.
