Cat Bird is a beautiful new platformer featuring lovingly made pixel art and some of the finest platforming we've seen on the App Store this side of 2017. It controls like a dream, and though it may be tricky, it's a delight to play. The game tells the story of Cat Bird, an oddball fluffy hybrid that more closely resembles a bat, who's bopping about from portal to portal trying to find its way back to its home planet.

If you're struggling with the early levels of Cat Bird, we have a few tips to help you out.

Experiment and explore

You actually have an unlimited number of lives, so if you're playing through for the first time, don't be afraid to mess up. Keep exploring and trying new things. After you've beaten the game, you can go back and try levels without dying, but for now, why not enjoy the journey?

You can glide farther than you think you can

A flying protagonist in a platformer might seem too good to be true, but yes, you actually can hover and glide across long distances. Remember to hold your glide to jump across wide distances. It might feel unnatural at first.

With that said, having a height advantage definitely helps. If you're having trouble making it across a wide gap, try to find higher ground before attempting your jump.

Don't fight enemies

You're a squishy little Cat Bird, so you're unlikely to beat any enemies you encounter by jumping on them or otherwise. Cat Bird is largely about solving puzzles and finding ways to master your environment. That includes the creatures that live therein. Go for a more pacifistic approach and you'll have an easier time.
