The best games of the month - August 2017
August was jam-packed with quality games. Some of them we were eagerly expecting, while others crept in and took us completely by surprise. Card games, RPGs, top-down racers, there was a lot of creative stuff happening, and it was a real delight.
Now, it's time to look back on August fondly, remembering our highest rated games of the month. We've got eight in all! Let's get to it.
DATA WING
What at first appears to be a top-down cyberpunk racer is so much more. DATA WING took us by surprise with its creative storytelling and fun mix of puzzle solving and racing.
Holy Potatoes! A Weapon Shop?!
This little number is a delightful weapon shop sim that shows us what the merchants are up to when the warriors are off fighting monsters.
Miracle Merchant
Miracle Merchant is a clever spin on Solitaire, in which you mix up potions for your fantasy clientelle. The charming artwork and varied gameplay will leave you hooked.
Cat Quest
A mobile sandbox RPG with elements of Skyrim and Final Fantasy set in a world full of warrior cats? Sign us up. Cat Quest promised a lot, and it delivered on all fronts.
Fighting Fantasy Legends
Fighting Fantasy Legends draws its lore from classic gamebooks, and joins them with a new set of RPG mechanics. It's a must have for fans of The Warlock of Firetop Mountain and other adventures.
Road Warriors
Road Warriors is a pared down arcade racer, with a focus on zippy racing that encourages you to booby trap and blast your enemies in classic Mario Kart-esque combat.
Technobabylon
This fun point and click adventure game tells a futuristic mystery tale in a captivating cyberpunk setting full of fascinating characters and intriguing puzzles.
Burgle Bros
Burgle Bros is a super cool stealth action board game that sees you pulling off complicated heists in style. There's nothing quite like it.
