TomChord is a music app that detects guitar chord/guitar chord progression and displays the chords, in real-time, along the top of the screen. It also displays and color codes the root notes of each chord, providing users with a graphical representation of the chord's amplitude/root note(s). While it's not perfect, it doesn't claim to be and does exactly what it says. It's a great tool for budding/inexperienced musicians and weekend warriors alike.

Glee takes an impressive step forward for music games on the iDevice by creating a network of singers who can sing along and establish credibility with one another. Three pre-loaded songs and a plethora of pay-per-song addons create an impressive offering for not a lot of investment.

Etude has a pretty UI and a decent selection of (free) sheet music, but it's just not practical. The playback sometimes stutters, scrolling is jerky, and the screen is just too small to use for playing music. Etude would be better suited to the iPad.

iConcertCal seems like a great answer for hometown concert information gathering and an amazing resource for the roadtrip enthusiast. One road trip justifies the purchase, one missed gig that was instead spent sitting at home justifies the purchase. Chordica is a fun and easy to use music app. It's innovative design lets you memorize songs using numbers instead of notes, which allows you to play a song in any key using the exact same screen taps. The app has a good sounding piano sample and enough adjustments to allow flexibility without being overwhelming.
