Posted by Campbell Bird on January 31st, 2024
+ Universal App - Designed for iPhone and iPad

Death Stranding has wandered its way onto iOS, and considering it is yet another beefy and demanding title for iOS devices to handle that seem to be trickling out as of late, I took the liberty of trying the game out for myself, recording my first stretch of gameplay with it, and drawing up some impressions to share with anyone who might be interested in picking it up.

Read on below for some detailed analysis and info of the game at first blush, otherwise feel free to watch or scrub through the video posted above to see for yourself what it seems like.

Mad Max meets Postman Sam as Death Stranding Director’s Cut arrives on mobile

Posted by Shaun Walton on January 31st, 2024

It has been a glorious time for gamers lately, with massive console hits like Resident Evil 4 being successfully ported onto mobile to enjoy on the go, and now it is the turn of Hideo Kojima’s first game after his split for long-time employer Konami; Death Stranding Director’s Cut.

Death Stranding is set in the United States, where the eponymous disaster has utterly devastated the earth, leading to the rise of deadly creatures known as BTs. Players step into the shoes of Sam Porter Bridges, played by once zombie hunter extraordinaire Norman Reedus, a porter who transfers life-saving packages across this inhospitable world.

Ex Astris starts life with a silver spoon as Hypergyph announces Arknights crossover on launch

Posted by Shaun Walton on January 30th, 2024

Developer Hypergryph and publisher Gryphline are making sure the release of their upcoming RPG, Ex Astris, is going to go off with aplomb by announcing a crossover with one of mobile's biggest names. Arknights will be dropping in with some exclusive items to begin your journey in style.

Ex Astris is set on a planet named Allindo, a tidally locked orbit that results in a sun that never sets, so at least werewolves aren't a concern. Players will strike out across this bright land with a team of eclectic allies, travelling in style and comfort in that time-honoured of ways; an RV.

Take a break from all-encompassing cosmic threats as Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.0 takes you on vacation

Posted by Shaun Walton on January 29th, 2024

Travelling the cosmos and protecting the universe can be a bit daunting, so luckily HoYoverse has scheduled some time at a recently renovated vacation spot for the astral crew in Honkai Star Rail. Version 2.0, If One Dreams At Midnight, will also open its doors to three new recruits when it drops February 6th.

After exploring the stars, your crew receive an invitation in the name of The Family to partake in the Charmony Festival on Penacony, once a prison run by the IPC, now a holiday resort presided over by The Family and host to a gigantic hotel named The Reverie, a hotspot for travellers the world over.

Zynga Inc announces a multi-year partnership with Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A

Posted by Shaun Walton on January 26th, 2024

In a piece of rather pretty cool news, Zynga Inc and Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A has unveiled a multi-year agreement which will make CSR Racing, a hyper-real driving sim from Zynga subsidiary NaturalMotion, an official partner of Lamborghini’s new LMDH prototype in the FIA WEC Hypercar Class, and IMSA Grand Touring Prototype racing.

For fans of gaming in general, it is a delightful step forward for the industry to see not only a game developer but a whole franchise itself making this big a stride outside the usual sphere of games. There are, of course, benefits to players too, as the SC63 Hypercar and Squadra Corse will be recreated in CSR2.

MOONTON Games is announced as the inaugural entrant to the Esport World Cup

Posted by Shaun Walton on January 25th, 2024

Thanks to a recent announcement by the Esports World Cup Foundation, as well as mobile developers MOONTON Games, we have learned that the first confirmed title in the inaugural Esport World Cup, taking place this summer, will be the rather well-received MOBA Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.

The Esports World Cup is a rather ambitious upcoming event taking place across a giant eight weeks in the heart of Riyadh. The aim is quite simple, showcase the best and the brightest of competitive mobile gameplay by bringing all the top games together in one festival of mindblowing proportions, and let’s hope it comes to fruition

Square Enix continues to decimate its mobile portfolio with closure announcement for Nier Reincarnation

Posted by Shaun Walton on January 24th, 2024

In my humble opinion, recent rumblings from Square Enix have been a bit worrying, to say the least, with their dabbling in blockchain, an “aggressive” approach to AI, and new President Takashi Kiryus’ decree that the company will be publishing fewer games moving forward, which they have quite roundly proven by announcing the shuttering of Nier Reincarnation.

Following the conclusion of the current storyline, The People and the World, Nier Reincarnation will be shutting its doors for good, in another example of Square Enix decimating its mobile portfolio, following in the steps of Final Fantasy VII The First Soldier, Kingdom Hearts Union X, and Echoes of Mana to name a few.

Demain Saga goes for a spot of tea and crumpets as King Arthur arrives

Posted by Shaun Walton on January 23rd, 2024

Speaking as a British human, with my mandatory cup of tea in hand, we don’t really have much in the way of interesting mythology. Sure, the Loch Ness Monster, but in any other country, she would breathe fire. So, it is always exciting when a developer shines a light on the Arthurian Legends, which is what HAEGIN has done in Demian Saga.

The titular King Arthur from the legends has marched in the game, armed with his trusty Excalibur, the key that marks the next king of Elysion. Unsurprising, he is a melee hero who uses his sword and shield to protect and attack, with skills that allow him to buff his allies' Attack Speed or remove enemy beneficial effects.

Two mobile greats band together and announce team-based RPG Order & Chaos: Guardians

Posted by Shaun Walton on January 22nd, 2024

Abandon ye gods as two titans of mobile gaming come together to create a new team-based RPG, called Order & Chaos: Guardians. NetEase Games and Gameloft team up to create a fantasy powerhouse, with a beta set to kick off in a few short days.

Chaos & Order first came to life in 2011 when Gameloft released the original MMORPG for the series, which continued to garner critical acclaim until it shut down early last year. It did spawn a sequel, however, Order & Chaos 2: Redemption, in 2015 which is still going strong. Now, Guardians is taking the series in a new direction.

Do robotic battle for control of a dying world as KEK Entertainment announces Armor Attack

Posted by Shaun Walton on January 18th, 2024

From the massive mecha hits like Armored Core, all the way down to the PS2 Robot Wars game that managed to be utter trash but still great, robotic combat games are fantastically good fun. Looking to wade into this arena next is KEK Entertainment, with their debut game; Armor Attack.

KEK Entertainment is a fairly new company in and of itself, but don’t let that fool you, because they are packing some industry clout. They are staffed by veterans of the industry, coming from big names such as Ubisoft, EA, and DICE, brought together by a desire to make some AAA cross-platform classics.

Tennis Clash kicks of the year with latest event in partnership with the Australian Open

Posted by Shaun Walton on January 17th, 2024

There is no denying that Tennis Clash has some tight gameplay, but we would be remiss if we also didn't factor in the work the team did in landing some excellent partners, such as Tennis Australia. This is paying dividends once again, with Wildfire Studio's announcements of its latest update to celebrate the Australian Open.

The Australian Open is one of the most important events of the tennis calendar, as it marks the first Grand Slam of the year, where we can see which players can shake off the haze of that long end-of-year slog and food coma to do what they do best; smash balls at each other when making many a questionable sound.

Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Links commemorates seventh anniversary with a landslide of prizes

Posted by Shaun Walton on January 15th, 2024

Ever since launching back in 1999, Yu-Gi-Oh has spent the better part of a quarter of a century in contention for the King of Card Games, and it is easy to see why through its constant evolutions, whether or not you agree with the new summon methods. Now, Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Links is continuing that legacy by celebrating its seventh anniversary.

To commemorate this landmark, all Duelists will be gifted a huge range of birthday gifts as a thank you for the support, including iconic Ultra Prismatic Foil Rarity cards, a whopping 20 card packs, tickets to trade for skills, characters, Gems, and special seventh-anniversary accessories, to show off you where here as the game continues into infinity.

Naraka: Bladepoint developers 24 Entertainment team up with Hacksmith Industries for a special project

Posted by Shaun Walton on January 12th, 2024

Despite the historic bad press gaming has received. I am sure if a meteor crashes into Earth it'll be the industry's fault because Sephiroth did it in Final Fantasy 7, we know that it is one of the best communities to be a part of, and the developers behind Naraka: Bladepoint has certainly added to this lately with an incredibly classy move.

JesseLHV is a YouTuber from the UK who was unfortunately born with only one arm but has rather admirably turned this into an asset through some rather impressive gaming videos, some people can barely build in Fortnite with two hands and Jesse is smashing it with one. 24 Entertainment, developers of Naraka: Bladepoint, noticed him playing their game one day, and felt generous.

14 Hours Production announces the release date for Tamagotchi-inspired RPG Yolk Heroes: A Long Tamago

Posted by Shaun Walton on January 11th, 2024

Back when I was but a young gaming Padawan navigating the tedium that was school life, something that was all the rage was those digital pets like Tamogachis and Digimon. You played with them, cared for them, and then inevitably accidentally let them die, and now you can relive it all over again as Yolk Heroes: A Long Tamago receives its launch date.

Yolk Heroes throws hundreds of years of biological study out of the window and sees players hatching humanoid Elves out of eggs under the order of the Fairy Queen. It is then up to you to nurture these young, vulnerable fledglings, before launching them face-first into relentless combat - parenting classes be damned.
