Star Trek Rivals is a strategic card battle game that is now available in the App Store, giving Star Trek fans the ability to challenge friends in turn-based gameplay. The game has over 100 cards to collect and upgrade that are based on characters, aliens, and starships from 2009′s Star Trek and the upcoming Star Trek: Into Darkness movies.

The App Store has hit 50 billion downloads, providing one winner with a $10,000 dollar gift card and 50 others with a $500 dollar gift card. Now, the countdown begins again with a march towards 100 billion downloads. I wonder what kind of contest will be held for that?

Google Now Update Will Add Six New Reminder Cards

Tech Crunch reports that Google announced new updates for Google Now, which is currently under the Google Search name. Google announced that they will add six card types, including location-based reminders, public transit travel times, and information about music, TV shows, and videos games. People can also use their voice to set reminders based on time, people, and location.
The update will likely be on the server-side, but we haven’t seen evidence of new cards just yet in the Google Search app.

Previously listed at $4.99, iStriker 2: Air Assault is a shoot-em up title that is now available for free. There are six levels full of enemies and six boss battles to engage in, all while raising a max combo multiplier for attempting high score runs on the leaderboards.
Pocket Gamer reports that World of Aircraft will launch onto the App Store, next week, on May 22nd. This is Come2You’s first game, an MMO set during World War II, where players control one of 28 different planes to fly throughout seven different environments. Besides PvP battles, the game also features single-player missions to engage in.

1Password the password manager gets an update full of new features, including the ability to fill bookmarks and use strong password generator in the integrated 1Browser. Agilebits has also added a 1Broswer settings menu as well as the ability to clear web data from the browser and share items through messages and email.

CultofMac reports that ABC is updating its ABC Player app by including a new live button that allows users to view live-stream local TV, as long as they are a current cable subscriber. The live button will be available this week, but only for New York and Philadelphia users, at first. ABC will bring live streams to six more cities this summer and is currently in talks with 200 additional affiliates. The live stream capability provides users with the option to watch current TV from anywhere within their local market.

Rovio Stars – Angry Birds Developer To Publish Third Party Games, Announces First One, Icebreaker

In a press release, Rovio’s EVP of Games Jami Laes says “Rovio Entertainment has positioned itself as one of the powerhouses of mobile entertainment, so moving into publishing is a logical step for us at this point”.
Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage will be the first game published by Rovio Stars. Pocket Gamer reports that Icebreaker has players slicing ropes and hacking big blocks of ice to help the Vikings return to their boat. Players will also face enemy trolls and traps throughout 95 levels. Release date has not yet been set, but it’s expected soon.

I am MT: Card Battle has been in the App Store for only a week and already broke into the top 10 paid games. Well, after the successful sales of the game, it’s now free-to-play. Those who already purchased the game will receive $5 dollars worth of runes, which is enough to purchase a premium card.
Locojoy’s marketing manager, Adam Tesluk, said in a press release that “We really had no idea what kind of demand there would be for I am MT: Card Battle in the United States. We went with a paid app at launch to be sure we could cover our costs,” Adam Tesluk, Marketing Manager, Locojoy said. “After we saw the huge number of gamers willing to purchase the game we knew there are enough U.S. gamers to make free-to-play work.”
