eduTecher Backpack looks to be an amazingly useful resource for teachers and those in the world of education. Created by Adam Bellow, eduTecher started as a site to organize the literally thousands of online resources available for teachers and those involved in education. Now it's in its second iteration as a universal app

it acts as a portal to connect a wealth of information. This includes educational links, "how to" webisodes, and a wealth of subject matter content between your computer, iPad and iPhone. It also allows you to share blogs, favorites and notes with a growing community of eduTecher Backpack users by signing up for a free account.

Educational links are searchable by name, keyword, or by tapping a "Subject/Level" button that lets you choose between thirteen subjects and five grade levels to hone down your search to get at what's most helpful. There are well over 1,000 links that are available in a simple icon mode, or a detailed mode where a descriptive paragraph is displayed in a scrolling listing. Once you've found what you need, you can share your finds on Twitter, Facebook or email. The link can also be added to your favorites list, notes can be added, or you can open the page in Safari.

eduTecher TV is chock full of an ever-increasing number of five to ten minute videos explaining the use of instructional tools and methods. These display in the app, not opening in YouTube, so they can be safely played in any school.

The community functions can either connect a class or a community of practice of like minded teachers. Use the app to email friends and when accepted your contacts can view your favorites listing and read your notes, and blog posts. Each user gets their own in-app blog. The app also contains forums. Alerts to post responses can gotten had through email or RSS.

Backpacks (all your information) can be accessed from any iOS device or the web, so save it on your iPhone and it's on your iPad. This convenient and useful app has just undergone a major revision from being a simple RSS reader to being a full functioned resource. There are no ads and everything is free, so if you are a teacher or student involved in educational technology, go and grab it.

The Walt Disney Publishing Division has just released Disney Comics, a free app for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Given an iBookstore bookshelf look, the initial outing contains fifty titles ranging from free to in app purchases that range between $0.99 and $3.99 for a themed collection. Titles include both old and new Disney characters including those from Toy Story and Cars along with old favorites like Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck. It will work in both portrait and landscape modes.

The new app offers features like auto-play and sound effects, along with a variety of modes of reading. Disney intends to digitally re-publish individual stories as well as graphic novels from their massive collection of older content along with newer titles. Disney creates over 25,000 pages of original comic pages per year and delivers them to over one billion readers. That's a lot of readers, to be honest. Whew.
