Thatcher Taylor Hallet was my great great grandfather who opened Hallet's Store in 1889. The man was a jack of all trades from collector of customs, postmaster, justice of the peace, selectman, provider for the poor, and a mason. Thatcher was an honorable businessman. The store was passed to his son Matthews C. Hallet who married very young and together with his wife ran the store side by side for over 49 years. The daughter Mary who grew up behind the counter took over the store when her parents passed on. She ran the store and celebrated the 100th anniversary of Hallet's Store in big style! Hats, balloons, sweatshirts, and mugs, all were memorabilia for the 100th anniversary celebration. I Charles Clark the son of Mary am the present owner, recently honored my grandfather by publishing a book the Hallet family of Cape Cod using his photograph collection of old glass plate pictures.
