What's New

In the Poker-like Finnish 27 ™ game, the objective of the player is to make a five-card-poker hand, but the number of cards the player can draw is limited by the player's hand total; so that if the player's hand total exceeds twenty-seven points, then the player loses the game. I know of no other card game wherein; the objective of the player is to make a five-card-poker hand, but the number of cards the player can draw is limited by the player's hand total. This aspect of the game creates some interesting situations wherein; the player must weigh the benefit of making a five-card-poker hand against the risk of losing the game.

If both the player and the dealer make a five-card-poker hand, then the hands are compared to a predetermined hierarchy of five-card-poker hands, the hand with the highest rank wins, and ties are a stalemate.

If the player makes a five-card-poker hand and the dealer does not, then the outcome of the game is the player's hand wins.

If the dealer makes a five-card-poker hand and the player does not, then the outcome of the game is the dealer's hand wins.

If neither the player nor the dealer makes a five-card-poker hand, then hand totals are compared to a target-numerical-sum of twenty-seven points, the hand closest to twenty-seven points without going over wins, and ties are a stalemate.

In any case, there are never more than five cards in a hand. If a hand consists of five cards, then the holder of the hand must stand.

The mechanism of play of the Poker-like Finnish 27 ™ game is otherwise similar to a game of Blackjack. The player makes a game wager. If the outcome of the game is the player's hand wins, then the dealer pays the player. If the outcome of the game is the dealer's hand wins, then the dealer collects the game wager. If the outcome of the game is a stalemate, then the dealer returns the game wager to the player.

After the player makes a game wager, the dealer deals initial hands. The player's initial hand consists of two cards dealt face up. The dealer's initial hand consists of a first card dealt face down and a second card dealt face up.

Points are totaled for each card in a hand. Face cards (Jack, Queen, and King) count respectively as 11, 12, and 13 points. If an Ace can be counted as 14 points without causing the hand total to exceed 27 points, then the Ace counts as 14 points. Otherwise, Aces count as 1 point. If a Joker is the second card dealt to the hand, then the Joker counts as any number of points required to make a
hand total of 27 points. Otherwise, Jokers count as 0 points. All other cards are counted according to their numeric value.

An initial hand consisting of an Ace and a King counts as 14 points plus 13 points for a total of 27 points. An initial hand consisting of an Ace and a King is also called a Finnish 27.

If the dealer's up card is an Ace, then the dealer offers the player "insurance". This is a side bet equal to half of the player's original bet. If the player buys insurance, and if the dealer has a Finnish 27, then the player is paid 11 to 1 odds on this side bet. If the player buys insurance, and if the dealer does not have a Finnish 27, then the side bet is lost. In either case, the round continues as before with the player's original bet.

In Version 1.1, if the player buys insurance, then a window opens to tell the player whether or not the dealer has a Finnish 27, and how many credits were won or lost as a result of buying insurance.

App Description

Casino games are currently a multi-billion dollar industry. Casino operators are looking for new games. Therefore, inventors are providing new games.

This app enables the player to play Finnish 27 ™. Finnish 27 ™ is a new-patented family of table-card games. In Finnish 27 ™, players don't play against each other; and they don't co-operate. The only competition is the dealer. This app enables you to act as the player and your mobile device to act as the dealer.

Upon starting the app, opening credits are shown while theme music plays. After about twenty seconds, a new page opens. However, the player can press the "Play Now" button and the new page will open immediately.

On the new page, the app displays a deck of cards spread face up across the surface of a table. Each card bears Finnish style indices. The Finnish style has indices 1, 13, 12, 11 appear on the ace, king, queen and jack; has no indices appear on the joker; and has indices corresponding to card rank appear on each of the remaining cards.

Beneath the deck of cards, a set of four buttons appear. The four buttons enable the player to "select a game" from a group of games consisting of a poker-like game, a blackjack-like game, a baccarat-like game, and a no-bust game.

After the player selects a game, the app provides a graphic representation of a playing surface. On the playing surface, the app identifies a player's hand area and a dealer's hand area. The name of the family of games is written across the dealer's hand area. A summary of the set of game rules is written across the player's hand area.

Beneath this playing surface, a set of buttons appear. The "Show Rules" button enables the player to display the rules of the game in written form at any time. The other buttons enable the player to play the game. The app automatically enables and disables buttons depending on what actions or options are valid at any point.

0n the right side is a set of text boxes. From top to bottom, the set of text boxes displays info about the dealer's hand value, the round number, the time spent playing the game, the player's hand value, the bet box amount, the outcome of the round of play, the bet amount, and the player's bankroll amount. The app updates the info displayed in these text boxes as needed.

Beneath the set of text boxes, is a check box with the phrase "Play Sounds" next to it. The app plays various sounds. To mute the sounds, the player can uncheck the box.

A drop down menu enables the player to change the bet amount between rounds of play. Touching the text box that displays info about the bet amount activates the drop down menu.

To begin a round of the baccarat-like game, the player places a bet (by hitting a button selected from a group of buttons consisting of the "Bet On Player" button, the "Bet On Dealer" button, and the "Bet On Push" Button). To begin a round of the other games, the player places a bet by hitting the "Deal" button.

After a bet is placed, the dealer deals an initial hand to the player's hand area and an initial hand to the dealer's hand area.

After the initial hands are dealt, the dealer plays the player's hand. In the baccarat-like game, the dealer does so without input from the player. In the other games, the dealer plays the player's hand a certain way under certain circumstances and otherwise the dealer consults with the player for a decision on how to play the player's hand.

If the dealer does consult with the player, then a set of buttons appears. The set of buttons enables the player to select an option from a set of options. The set of buttons include a "Hit" button and a "Stand" button. In the blackjack-like game, the set of buttons may also include a "Double Down" button, a "Split" button, and a "Surrender" button.
