Kaaviyathalaivan is a highly entertaining romantic movie set in the world of the drama troupes in the pre independence era. By nature of its content, cast & crew, it is conceptualized as project that will have a pan South India appeal and reach a wider set of audience. The story, screenplay and direction are handled by the national award winner Vasanthabalan. He won the National Award for Best feature film in Tamil for the movie Veyil' in 2006. The movie stars Siddharth, Prithviraj, Vedhicka & Anaika in lead roles. The music for Kaaviyathalaivan is scored by Oscar Winner A.R. Rahman. The album has 7 tracks set in the era of the 40’s and designed around the theatre performance backdrop. With a lot of classical and dramatic influence, the album is a mix of traditional instruments, classical music and beautiful lyrics by Na. Muthukumar, Pa. Vijay and Late Vaalee.

The songs ‘Yaarumilla’, ‘Vaanga Makka Vaanga’ and ‘Aye Mr. Minor!’ have become instant hits and are topping charts already. The highlight is also the fact that singer Haricharan has sung most of the songs of the album.
