App Description

"Located on the picturesque banks of the Swan River on the Nedlands Foreshore in Perth, the Nedlands Rugby Union Football Club is a true sporting institution in Western Australia. It is a club with a proud history – and an exciting future. Since its formation back in 1934, the club well known in Australian rugby circles as “Neddies” has created a unique winning culture.

Nedlands looks forward to another successful season in 2014 after winning the Premier Grade and Third Grade premierships in 2013. The club has now won a record 17 Premier Grade flags and appeared in the Premier Grade finals for 31 years in a row.

The club celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2009 and achieved another significant milestone in 2012 with the completion of our new $1 million club house, the culmination of decades of planning and many long hours of work from a dedicated team of volunteers.

The Neddies culture is built around a dedicated and cohesive committee and a strong emphasis on the development of players and coaches. Neddies prides itself on being a multi-cultural club with players and supporters from all parts of the globe. We also pride ourselves on our friendly and supportive social environment.

Neddies also has a vibrant Junior Club, fielding teams in all grades from Under-6s upwards. Many of the club’s junior players have gone on to play rugby at the elite level, including Fijian international Nicky Little, 2011 German international Callum Sauer, former Australian Under-16 skipper Tony Ball and former Australian Sevens players Will Brock and Robbie Barugh.

The Nedlands Women’s team has also produced a string of Wallaroo internationals over the years including national stars Cheryl Soon (who is now a member of the International Rugby Board) and Tui Ormsby.

Off the field, Neddies has a vocal and colourful supporters’ club known as The Third Half. The club also pioneered Test match lunches in Perth in 1996, where the guest speakers have included many past legends of the game. The annual Neddies Ladies’ Day has become another important annual event on Perth’s social calendar.

During this time the club has come up with some fantastic ideas and innovative plans to ensure the strength of the club continues long in to the future.

One of the main areas the club was looking to improve on was the way in which it was currently communicating with its players, members, supporters and sponsors.

With a forward thinking and a dynamic board the club was actively pursuing different methods which would enable them to improve on their existing communication channels.

After conducting a review of all the options available to them the club is pleased to announce the release of their first ever native mobile phone app for the iPhone.
