App Description

Application Description:

Finally, a Mobile App that allows the individual golfer to know for sure if his/her group is keeping the proper "pace of play" during their round of golf.

The Golf Pacer application has been developed as a mobile web application for use with iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, and iPod) to assist golf enthusiasts with tracking and keeping pace with the pace of play during an entire round of golf.

The application utilizes the Par and Handicap values specified for each hole to determine the pace of play for a 4-hour round time. Based on these values, the time of play for each hole is calculated and the hole location on the golf course is displayed to the end user. The calculated values are further broken-down to the following three (3) positions for each hole;
• Tee
• Fairway
• Green

Thus for an 18-hole course, a total of 54 positions are managed by the application to assist golfers with their pace of play throughout an entire golf game.

Course Configuration:

Up to six (6) golf course configurations are supported in the initial release. The course configurations are stored using Safari’s browser cache, which is considered a temporary data store.

Add a new course – on the Course display, simply touch the Add button to go to the Add Course display to enter the Course name and related Par and Handicap values related to each hole for the specified course.

Game Play Operation:

Start Pacer operations – Pacer operations will cycle through the 54 positions (3 positions per hole) for a given golf course. Default position for the start of a game is Hole 1 at the Tee. Although, an end user can change the game start position to any of the following 4 positions in the event the Pacer application was not started at the Tee on Hole 1;
• Hole 1 Tee
• Hole 1 Fairway
• Hole 1 Green
• Hole 2 Tee

To set the start position different from the default, simply touch the green ball-arrow to the right of the Course name, which will cycle through the 4 available start positions. Once the start position has been identified, the user can touch the Start button to initiate the Pacer operations.

Stop Pacer operations – Pacer operations can be stopped at anytime during game play operations. Once the Pacer has been stopped, the end-user will need to touch the Start button to re-initialization Pacer operations for a new game start time.
