App Description

Reading with Word Patch is a fun game designed to help children to learn to read. It has been devised by Dr Jonathan Reed Child Neuropsychologist based on his clinical practice and the latest research into reading. Reading with Word Patch builds on our other game Phonics with Letter Lilies, which teaches phonics. Reading with Word Patch teaches children to blend letter sounds (synthetic phonics), which is one of the building blocks of learning to read. It also teaches the child to automatically recognize the 100 most frequently occurring words in English. This improves reading fluency.
Reading with Word patch can be used by any child learning to read. It can also used to help children who find learning difficult including children with dyslexia. The game uses an error free learning approach with visual and verbal rewards to encourage motivation and learning.
Reading with Word Patch is narrated by Belinda the Bee who guides children through the game with spoken instructions, allowing children to play the game without adult support. All the phonemes and words are spoken in an English accent.
Reading with Word Patch also contains a report feature which allows learning progress to be monitored.
