Description

ClearDup is a very useful application that can find all duplicate files in your Mac, you know where they are located, filter it, whether clean them.

Have you ever wondered, how many duplicate files that take up unnecessary space on your hard disk, are present in your Mac?

With this simple and functional app you can find them easily, just specify the path to the folder where you want to be searched, all files will be compared in search of duplicates, including files with different names. In fact, we often have files with the same content, but with different names, ClearDup will find them for you, classifying them into folders sources and numbers of duplicates in the right window you will see the details of the found files, as well as open them in the Finder or Terminal . Then you decide to delete them or keep them.

You will also have the ability to filter the types of files ignoring certain extensions, all to decrease time to research on very large folder can become quite long.

For example you can only find duplicates of your photos. Jpg of your documents rather than excluding all files that are not of interest to you.

- Search for duplicate files within folders
- Collection and classification of Results
- Ability to open it in Finder or Terminal
- Exclusion based on filters

Disclaimer: The search time depends on the speed of your Mac and the size of the folder in which to conduct the research.

A Utility that can not miss in your App!

DJRumpy ,

Does what it indicates. GUI needs work

It does find dupes by checksum, so very handy for that, even if the filename doesn’t match. It doesn’t appear to offer a way to clear the list of folders to be checked and start over, meaning you have to quit the app and reopen, but other than that, it functions.

Huh?

As far as I can tell this app doesn't actually do anything, to the point where I am wondering if it actually contains any executable code. The user is presented with what appears to be two options, 'scan' and 'filter' Pressing scan locks up the app for about 6 seconds, then nothing happens. Pressing filter gives you what looks to be the OSX standard dialog for entering a multi-level filter, however setting the filter to 'all files with extenstion docx' then pressing 'scan', the app locks up for a few seconds then does nothing. Intentionally creating a duplicate docx file, same result. I go into the filter and change dock to pdf, press scan, nothing. I go back into filter and the field contains docx again, so the filter did not even keep my changes. No idea what it looks for in this case. SO, I modify the filter, adding a 'path contains' field and enter 'Pictures'. Again, pressing scan results in nothing.

The menu options only contain the standard OSX app default options, there is NOTHING specific to the app in the menus. Pressing HELP I get 'No help available'.

Seriously?

Apple, is there some reason something like this makes it past your review process? Shouldn't there be a requirement that an app that is asking for money actually does SOMETHING?

Seriously? I don't get it.
