Easter is the season for the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus the Messiah. The entire story of the Bible turns on Jesus’ battle with evil, and then his surprising victory. The resurrection demonstrates God’s defeat of sin and death, and introduces the great light of God’s salvation into the world. We invite you to fully enter into this season with the daily reading of the Scriptures.

The focus will be on how God became King through the work of Messiah Jesus, and then welcomes us into our own inheritance of renewed life. The readings are taken first from the Gospel of Matthew and then Paul’s letter to the Romans. The readings, which include a daily prayer, cover the week from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday, and then also the first full week of the Easter season.

You can maximize the benefits of God’s word even more by reading through the entire books of Matthew and Romans (in a single sitting for each one). Set aside some time for Matthew during the week between Palm Sunday and Easter, and for Romans during the first week of the Easter season.

The darkness battled against Jesus. But God’s great, renewing power has broken into our world! Jesus is risen! The rightful Lord of the creation now reigns, and we are invited to join with him in announcing this, living it, and longing for its completion.
