TouchCast's obvious want to blur the line between creating and sharing interactive, presentation-quality video is great - for the most part. However, some elements could do with a visual update.
What's NewHUGE update: over 60 improvements! Plus TouchCast now offers VIDEO IMPORT! And new vApps! Hot Spot video footage! More YouTube upload options! Add gifs!
With video import, you can shoot your video with any camera or app -- or even grab a video from a URL -- and then use TouchCast to add the interactivity. Imagine shooting a video with TouchCast and then going back later to add the vApps: it's about to get much easier to make a touchcast! And you can even mix the audio levels from the native video's audio and your live mic if you want to talk over the recording. Or use a video in the background with the green screen: now you can stand in front of beautiful moving images! This video import feature is supported on 4th gen iPads, the iPad Air and the new iPad Mini (1st gen iPad Minis, iPad 2's and iPad 3rd gen are out of luck, just too slow).
Other new features include:
• add a link to any image you import, so you can lead viewers to webpages by tapping on a beautiful picture
• more (and easier) ways to upload your video to YouTube
• individually set opacity for each vApp -- including the ability to set to 0% to HOT SPOT an area of your video to link to web pages, images, twitter, etc.
• coachmarks can be toggled on and off with a "?" button on most screens
• check out who is following your channel
• better notifications, especially for video comments
• new vApps: Amazon, Social Handler, Movie Reviews, This Day In History, Calendar... and Giphy for gifs!
Bug fixes include:
• with iOS7, sometime black would show when you playback a touchcast
• bugs with YouTube uploading
• bug with merging touchcasts and losing vApp data
App DescriptionVideo and the web are coming together. Experience both like never before with TouchCast: a new medium that looks like video, but feels more like the web.
A TouchCast is a video that is fully browsable, responsive, and alive. Webpages, images, and an assembly of video Apps (vApps) can be tapped for a two-way video experience.
It's a TV studio in your hands. Create broadcast-quality videos with a built-in teleprompter, green screen, visual filters, sound effects, and titles. Watch TouchCasts from the app or online at TouchCast.com.
Our Mission is to bring the wonder of the web to video and usher in a new age of expression. Anyone can easily create professional-quality videos that finally behave like the rest of the web.
Explore videos, express yourself and engage viewers in a whole new way. We invite you to try TouchCast and help define this new medium.
Please let us know you're feedback as we strive to improve the experience, including what features you would like to see in future versions.
Here are the early returns from media reviews:
"TouchCast lets people create and watch videos that are layered with
live Web pages, YouTube clips, Twitter streams and other digital
touchpoints that viewers can expand, manipulate and turn on and off with their fingers."
"The idea is to offer a powerful video creation tool that doesn’t
require all the work that video editing normally does"
"As a video creator, you can create pretty rich, professional-grade
broadcasts directly from your tablet in seconds"
—The Next Web
"Compared to a typical webpage, with its dozens of clickable links and widgets, the average video might as well be trapped behind Plexiglass. That’s the problem that . . . TouchCast set out to solve"
"TouchCast only wants to completely reinvent the look and feel of the Internet."
