Find The Color Of anything by overlapping images from Instagram. Search by hashtag, location or username to generate a representative picture.

The project started out by trying to answer an abstract question of what the color of anything is, may it be a concept, an emotion or a sound. With the hypothesis that random images will average out to be grey, the overlapped image is the answer as objectively determined by the Instagram community. And this answer changes over time.

The Color Of is also a free sharing community where you can explore what other people have created. You can share natively via Twitter, Facebook or Sina Weibo, or even send a postcard via our partner, Sincerely.
