Description

Fear lingers in a remote laboratory after a physicist's suspicious demise. A police investigation resulted in nothing except a case as cold as the secretive personalities and steel walls that enshroud a top-secret Tesla-inspired facility. That's why the lab owner asked you, as Detective Nancy Drew, to expose the terrifying truth about The Deadly Device!

One of the best titles

This game is a must-have Nancy Drew game. The puzzles are fun and the mystery was satisfying, but one of the most memorable things about it are the characters. I played this two years ago but just seeing the pictures, I could remember all the characters and their quirks. It was really fun!

Deady Device is a Jolting Hit!

As is the style of all Nancy Drew PC/MAC games, this is a first person point and click mystery game. This is an excellent addition to the collection of anyone who has played and enjoyed Nancy Drew games in the past. While I would recommend almost all of the games, what is nice is that this one seems very much like the earlier games in the sense of character development (think of the development/relationships we had in Secrets Can Kill!) No only that, but the plot is completely engaging. It's definitely a whodoneit until the game is over. I also enjoyed the new feature of "facetime" on Nancy's phone, but was sad to see that it was not a genuine video. This game is definitely better for the 12 and up crowd, as the puzzles can get challenging (I say this as a 21 year old who had to use the cheat codes) and it can be a little bit spooky- it is a murder mystery after all! Game runs really smoothly on my 2010 Macbook Air.

Master Sleuth frustrating to do without walkthrough

Too many items will not load until very specific prompts happen which remove any semblence of discovering items before you hit the right sequence of dialogue or puzzle events. The characters are unhelpful and uninteresting. Much of the dialogue is filler to set off a highly specific event that finally allows you to pick something up you’ve looked at before. There’s not very many places to explore so it feels small and annoying to discover that an item you’ve been trying to click on from the beginning just wouldn’t let you pick it up until the right person said the right thing at the right time which is difficult because they hardly say anything except dialogue dead ends. The Tesla info was fun but had little to do with actually doing the puzzles which generally is not the case with other ND titles. The puzzles were VERY difficult which is fine when they aren’t on a timer but the most difficult ones were timed and took as much as a couple hours to do. Had to look up walkthroughs for which order specific things had to be collected or done which is uncommon and in this title it was because certain things were not made apparent or explained while things relating to the plot were over explained even though the same things are said over over again. It really felt like a chore to finish with how claustrophobic the map ended up being. Awards in this one are also time consuming to the point where you essentially have to play another game entirely for a couple of them. Usually we are completionists with ND games but this one we left a couple not done because of tedium and we were ready to move on. Only get this one if you are doing a run through in order and then have a walkthrough ready if you want to run completionist or Master. So far the least fun ND played to date.
