App Description

None of us have the time — or the inclination! — to keep up with everything that happens on the Internet during the rigors of the week. The Awl: Weekend Companion includes five in-depth pieces that deserve your undivided attention, provided in an attractive format and ready for you every Friday, when you're ready to stretch out and enjoy. Here's what you might have missed while you were working and stuff.

Founded in 2009, The Awl is a New York City-based web concern that focuses mainly on news, politics, culture (and TV!). Run by a team with close to two decades of web experience and supported by the contributions of excellent writers of wildly diverse opinions and styles, The Awl is committed to supporting excellent writing on topics that might otherwise be ignored on today's traffic-oriented Internet.

An "awl," by the way, is a "pointed tool used for punching small holes," often utilized in wood and leather craft. Finally, our motto, "Be Less Stupid," is intended with some humor.

The Awl: Weekend Companion is published weekly. The app is a free download that includes three issues and a monthlong free trial. After that, auto-renewing subscriptions are $3.99 for a month or $39.99 for a year. Your subscription revenues directly support the writing, editing, and production of The Awl: Weekend Companion.
