What is your type of mask?

The author is Ms. Miho Utsugi, who is an active school teacher in Yokohama.
She believes that a school teacher’s duty is to develop students’ individual characters and make the most of each child’s talents. She has been writing picture books since 2006 and hopes to spread this belief.
Ms.Utsugi uses her experience as a teacher to incorporate very realistic children’s behavior and expressions into her books.
The educational contents of her picture books were appraised by the news paper company Shin Nihonkai.
And in 2011 July, the picture book was serialized as an eight-frame cartoon by newspapers.
The cartoon is not only for children as even parents can enjoy reading it!!
The cartoon is becoming popular for everyone.

After graduating from National University of Yokohama, studied at Tokyo design Academy while teaching at elementary school in Yokohama.

■ In 2006 , picture book, “Chicken Mask “ was selected by Tottori prefecture as a book on which students are assigned to write a report.
■ In 2008, picture book, “Chicken Mask” started to be published in Korean language in Korea. “Chicken Mask” This picture book started to be animated and broadcasted.
■ In 2010, character goods shop ,”Mask-Elementary School” has been established in Hikone-city in Shiga Prefecture. Picture book, “Same (Shark)-Mask” has been published.
■ In 2011, picture book, “Ham-Mask” has been published. DVD, Mask-Elementary School-School Song has been on sale. Mask Elementary School, eight-panel comic strip manga has been serialized on Nihonkai News Paper and Osaka Daily News.

Displayed in such exhibition as Tokyo International Animation Festival, International Gift Show and Licensing Asia. Participated in sevreral charity events in earthquake-stricken area.

Every child has different personality. Such difference creates value which is important for the growth of each kid. I have established so-called “Mask-School” in order to illustrate such difference as masks of animals. I try to express, from the view point of such kids, the development of them through their school life in my work. Everybody is different. Somebody needs somebody. I create my work wishing for everybody understands that “you are the hero of your own life”. Thanks!
