The Survivors is the first in a young adult series of five books that follow the life of Sadie Matthau, an immortal girl. It opens in 1692, when witch trials gripped the community of Salem, Massachusetts, and twenty-six children were accused as witches, exiled, and left for dead. Fourteen of them survived. Of the fourteen ill-fated Survivors and their descendants, one has never belonged. While the others have been content to remain isolated on a Montana mountainside through the centuries, only Sadie dares to abandon the family's sacred hiding place. The Survivors is the first installment of the tantalizing tales of Sadie's quest for freedom, mortality, and love.

From inside the pages of what still feels like a book, guided by watermark icons that tell what kinds of interaction a certain touchpoint elicits, readers can learn the history behind the story, can connect the story world in a way they’ve never been able to before, and they can even talk to the characters on Twitter and Facebook—since the characters have their own accounts—all without leaving the app.
