The search for the next singing sensation begins! The next Vasantham Star will follow the likes of previous winners: Shabir (2005), Ebi (2007) and Vikneshwaran (2009). The upcoming Star is one, who has the ability to serenade the audience with his/her singing capabilities as well as encompass a strong stage presence to captivate the fans. The show seeks to nurture and groom our local singing talent and provide a once in a lifetime experience to the contestants.
An extensive islandwide search began on August 28 with the auditions where over 400 hopefuls turned up to take their chances at stardom. In this round contestants were sieved into 2 groups, "KI.V" and "Out." Contestants who were categorized as "K.I.V" stood a chance to be 1 of the 10 finalists who will vie for the title of Vasantham Star 2011. After several weeks of judging, 10 finalists have been shortlisted by the judging panel based on their singing ability, stage presence and X-factor. Chandiramogan, Singer/Music director, Haider Ali, Producer/Director and Malarvizhi, Veteran Singer make up this year's judging panel. The viewers will be the fourth judge, where SMS votes cast will constitute to 25% of the final result hence determining who will be eliminated each week.
These top 10 will perform 'LIVE' every Sunday and battle to be the next singing sensation cum star of Vasantham. Each week, the contestants will be part of different themes and outdoor music video shoots, which will allow them to showcase their ability in becoming a star.
