No longer connects to DKC 850

Two stars only -for when it worked. Sees Disklavier but never connects with iOS 12

Improvements needed...

If you're thinking about buying a current generation Yamaha hybrid piano (Enspire or E3), you'd be smart to research how Yamaha has supported previous generations of their products. To be brief, Yamaha COULD easily upgrade this software to be more user friendly, but usually they deliver the bare minimum (and often late-to-market) update to prevent crashes under a new iOS. With the death of most old PRC-100 controllers, this software is one of your ONLY WAYS to interface with the Mark IV hardware.

One simple idea: When browsing for songs, AND playing songs (MIDI or FIL), there's plenty of screen real-estate to provide more than just ONE LINE of the song title. "Johann Sebastian Bach - BWV #..." is all I see for dozens of titles. And, there are plenty of other little tweaks like this that would make everyone's life easier.

In addition, wouldn't it be nice if Mark IV customers could UPGRADE their hardware to Enspire? I've chatted with Yamaha Engineers about this, and there's not a big technical impediment... just a marketing/sales/field issue. Support your customers, Yamaha!

Really awful and uninspiring

Counterintuitive GUI. More like a puzzle than an intelligent piece of software. Sure once you figure it out it will play fine. But if you only use once in a while, forget it. Start guessing and learning all over. So clumsy and ambiguous you wonder how the support and focus for controlling a musical instrument of such excellence could receive such mediocrity. A colossal embarrassment. I hope one day someone at Yamaha wakes up, trashes this software and redesigns it from the ground up. For several generations the software did not even have a name on the App Store that had Yamaha or Disklavier in the name. “US controller” or something like that. Really Says it all.
