App Description

From Celestron, the number one name in computerized telescopes, comes SkyQ , a multimedia sky guide and telescope observing tool.

Using your iPhone/iPad with a compass, or an iPod Touch with a gyroscope, SkyQ helps you identify stars, planets and hundreds of other celestial objects simply by holding up your phone towards the sky. Tap the Gyro button to activate the compass/gyro - now, as you move around, the sky chart follows your motion. On-screen compass display lets you know which way you are facing at all times. Select any displayed object by tapping on it to display information, images and even an audio description for the most popular celestial objects.

SkyQ, when used with Celestron’s SkyQ Link wireless module (purchased separately) can be used as a wireless controller for your Celestron computerized telescope, replacing the existing hand controller with a full-featured planetarium. SkyQ will guide you through the alignment process using the same planetarium interface used to locate and identify stars, and once aligned, will allow you to ‘goto’ objects by tapping on them in the planetarium view, or from any of the object databases or search lists.

SkyQ can be used to align and control a Celestron telescope that has an available AUX port, eliminating the need for the existing hand control (on the SE 4/5, the hand controller must remain plugged in on the fork arm, but is not needed to control the telescope). Telescope control can be established over a Direct WiFi connection to the SkyQ Link module, or the SkyQ Link can be configured to connect to an existing WiFi network that your iOS device is already connected to.

SkyQ gives you a complete and detailed depiction of the night sky, from the phases of the moon and visible planets, all the way down to the name and position of the moons around Jupiter and Saturn. It even tracks the International Space Station (ISS), and predicts sightings of its appearance.

SkyQ presents the night sky with a full Multimedia experience.

Virtual Sky -The virtual sky mode displays a realistic view of the night sky for your given time and location.

Images – hundreds of full color images of many of the most famous celestial objects in the sky.

Audio Guides – and most importantly, it talks. Listen to any one of over 300 audio guides with useful and entertaining information about the constellations, planets and most famous galaxies, nebulae and stars. Go to SkyQapp.com for more information and to listen to sample audio clip.
