App Description

iBins allows users to tag locations where they think a bin should be installed by their council in order to keep their city/town cleaner.

Do you think you can help improve the world?

Under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 it is illegal to drop litter or dump any waste or rubbish on private or public land. Those caught dropping litter which includes chewing gum, apple cores and cigarette butts, may receive a fixed penalty notice of £75 or face a maximum fine of up to £2500.

Reasons to keep the world cleaner.
1- Those who litter are creating an unhealthy environment for everyone in that atmosphere.

2- Littering can bring down the property value in many neighbourhoods.

3- Litter can cause a whole range of problems for everyone in the community. Litter discarded in streets and parks can travel through the storm water system to our bays and oceans, where it can cause harm to wildlife.

4- Litter costs money. Removing litter from the environment costs everyone money.

5- Litter can be a fire hazard. Accumulated litter and carelessly discarded cigarette butts are potential fire hazards.

6- Litter harms our waterways. Organic matter, such as dog poo, leaves and grass clippings, pollutes our waterways.
