App Description

Are you a die hard NASCAR fan, or someone who is interested in learning more about the history, venues and race teams located in the Charlotte, NC area? Charlotte has deep roots in automobile racing. From the early days of Indy type cars running on a wooden track in the 1920’s, to the first “Strictly Stock” series race ever held in 1949, to today where the Charlotte Motor Speedway hosts two series races plus the annual All Star race this area has been the site of more racing history than anywhere else in the United States. This was reaffirmed in 2006 with the announcement that the NASCAR Hall of Fame would be built in uptown Charlotte and was opened in the spring of 2010.

The stops on this tour cover locations in Charlotte and the surrounding counties where you can visit a variety of sites ranging from little known historical locations that impacted the development of racing in the area, to the race shops of some of the leading NASCAR teams, to the famous Charlotte Motors Speedway and NASCAR Hall of Fame. Each stop has a short description and photos of the highlights you will find there. Most also have a short audio segment with interesting history, facts and descriptions of the locations.

This application can also give you a "virtual" tour of these sites if you are not able to make the trip to Charlotte but still would like to enjoy the experience through your Smart Phone, or give you a memento of a visit to the area.
