"Apps like Gravilux awaken an 'Avatar'-like sensitivity to electricity in the body, power in the palms and general connectedness." --New York Times
"Every once in a while, an app will come along that has no practical application whatsoever but is just SO COOL that you have to have it! Gravilux is that sort of app." --iphoneapplicationlist.com
"Of the millions of apps out there, none quite capitalize on the sheer fun and beauty of interactivity the way that Scott Snibbe’s do.” --CoolHunting

** #1 Entertainment App in Mac App Store worldwide ** Top Ten Overall Worldwide ** iTunes Top 10 App of the year for Art and Music on iOS **

Gravilux lets you draw with stars: it’s a combination of art, meditation, science, and zen relaxation. As you touch the screen, gravity draws simulated stars to your fingertips. You can tease and twist the particles into galaxies, explode them like a supernova, or color the stars by their speed. Move the mouse to the bottom of the screen to change parameters including gravity, antigravity, number of stars, star size, and color. Gravilux was first released as a work of interactive art by Scott Snibbe that was only available in galleries and museums. The award winning app for iOS is now available for Mac based on the same code.

Wonderful App, One major update needed

I bought this app after reading all the wonderful reviews about it's calming effects and mesmerizing interactivity. I must say, it was extremely well done and really captures your attention. The first time i opened this app, my roommate and i spent about an hour messing around with it and really never got bored.

I do have one concern, however. That is that the transition from iOS to mac lost one major selling point of the app, it's response to your touch. It needs an update that makes the particles move based on your touches on the trackpad, not a mouse click. This would greatly increase the interactivity of the application and really put it over the top as the most addictive app in the store.

LIke i said, it's a wonderful app, but making this one change would make it near-perfect.

Love this app. I recently found myself stuck in an airport for 15 hours and spent a good deal of that time immersing myself in the soundscape of a good album in synchronicity with these visuals. Which got me thinking it would be great if this app could automatically synchronize with the beat of a song, and allow you to tweak the visual settings on-the-fly. This way you could focus your energy on adjusting the colors, pellet size, speed, &c instead of clicking/ moving the mouse. Of course this minimizes the interactivity of the app, which is its focus. But it would be a neat feature you could turn on or off. Anyway just a suggestion. It's a unique experience on your mac or iphone.

Takes me to another world.

Who would not want a simple peaceful app which allows you to play with the universe? Gravilux is mindless, which I think is kind of the point, and the relaxing/creavity effect it has is well worth the price! Playing with the universe in Gravilux is the perfect way to relax and get into a meditative mindset-- perfect for children and adults.

I have and love the iPhone, iPad, and Mac versions (as well as all of Scott Snibbe's other cool apps).

In the Mac version, you use your mouse/trackpad instead of your fingers. The toolbar is hidden: it appears when your cursor is at the bottom of the screen. The toolbar allows control of gravity/antigravity, color, star density/size, etc. Also I used Mac software to capture images and video!
