If you want to enable app icon badging, use the Settings app on your device to enable icon badging. This will allow you to see the number of days to Christmas without even having to open the app.
If you want a more beautiful quick view of the number of days to Christmas, the app now includes a widget that you can add to your lock screen. Swipe left on the lock screen, add it and check it out.
