Stratford Festival Guide for iPhone gives you everything you need to plan your trip to the Stratford Shakespeare Festival. Nine handy buttons assist you with everything from choosing your performance to finding a place to eat before the show.
With this app you’ll be able to find all the essential information that appears in our printed Visitors’ Guide without having another item to carry around with you. It’s like having the Visitors’ Guide in your pocket at all times – and it saves trees into the bargain.
Located in the charming Southwestern Ontario city of Stratford, the critically acclaimed Stratford Shakespeare Festival is North America’s largest classical repertory theatre. We produce a wide range of repertoire, from the works of William Shakespeare to spectacular musicals to world premieres of new Canadian plays.
Several productions alternate during the season in each of the Festival’s four venues (including the 1,826-seat Festival Theatre, with its renowned thrust stage), so there’s always plenty of choice.
The app’s Playbill button gives you an overview of each production at the Festival this season, along with other items you’ll want to checking out. Find out who’s appearing in each show – many patrons have favourites in the company. Watch production videos or see a slideshow of production photography to get a glimpse of what’s happening on our stages.
The Calendar button lets you view the performance schedule. See what shows are playing in the next two weeks and move on from there. (This is ideal if you happen to be close to Stratford and you’re wondering what’s on today.)
Visitor Info helps you find your way to Stratford. It contains road maps and information about TO/KW Direct, a convenient transportation service that we provide for patrons coming from Toronto and Kitchener-Waterloo. A chartered bus takes you to Stratford in time for lunch and a matinee performance and gets you back before day’s end – a great choice for those who don’t want to do the driving.
There’s much more at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival than just the productions onstage. Between performances, enjoy guided tours of the Festival Theatre’s backstage area and its magnificent gardens, as well as the extensive Costume and Props Warehouse (one of the largest in the world) and the Archives collection. Other activities and events include music concerts, lectures on the season’s productions and informal chats with members of the company. All this and more can be found under the Explore button.
Three more buttons help you find places to stay, eat and shop:
Stay: Find the best place to spend your night(s) in town, whether it be a hotel close to one of our venues or one of Stratford’s many delightful B&Bs.
Eat: Stratford has its own chefs’ school, so you can imagine what a great place this is to eat. From family fare to haute cuisine, there’s a restaurant here that’s right for you.
Shop: Discover the unique shopping opportunities available in Stratford’s downtown core – everything from antiques to books and music, from fashion to stuff for the kids, plus our own two Theatre Store locations.
For more insider information and great deals, use the app to visit our Facebook page and Twitter accounts. Both are great places to find out what others are saying about our shows – and to join in on the conversation. Get the inside scoop on Stratford and its Festival.
