In lieu of a free word counting app for the iPad at the time of producing this app, Document Statistics provides the basic functions needed for a word counting software: word count, characters with spaces, characters without spaces and paragraph count.

To support this app, feel free to buy a few nominal extras for the lowest tier pricing, present as an in-app purchase. This will provide you with a few interesting details about your app such as word frequency and letter frequency as well as emailing of results. However this is not necessary for the basic function and is simply a donation to help the development of other apps.
