New update stinks.

I’ve been using Flipboard for many years, and it’s long been my favorite news reader app. That said, this most recent update completely reversed the UI, and for no apparent reason. It’s bad. And a few updates back something broke, and now, if I leave the app for even one second, to respond to a text or lock my phone to order a coffee for example, I lose my place— it’ll close out whatever I’m reading and go back to the intro page. It didn’t use to do this, it’s only been the last few months, and it’s obnoxious to the max. I really don’t love the idea, but if these changes aren’t reversed and things put back the way they were for YEARS, then I’m probably going to switch to Apple News. I don’t want to do that, I’ve always been loyal to Flipboard, but these recent changes serve no purpose other than to frustrate and annoy. Fix it, guys. And while you’re at it, maybe let’s finish the desktop versions of the app as well for Windows, Mac and Linux? I won’t hold my breath on that one, but PLEASE at least undo these terrible changes.

Works OK on iPad, but complete garbage on Galaxy Tab

I get to read news articles on a free app and that’s great. Some stories will not open due to subscriptions being required, which is fair, as businesses need to make money - and that’s where the expectations with pop-up ads blocking content comes in…it’s a free app and I’m happy to deal with it on iPad because that’s how they make their money. On the Galaxy Tab though, it’s nearly impossible to read the content due to the constant pop-up ads blocking everything. Both devices offer “reader view” to just see the print without many of the photos and pop-ups. On the iPad app, the reader view option is sometimes almost immediately, and sometimes can take several seconds to become available - again, advertising/revenue/money…it’s a business that needs to make money. On the Galaxy Tab though, you click on the article, go make coffee in grandmas old percolator, take a shower, get dressed, then MAYBE, reader view may be available. But normally, it’ll be video ads on top of other video ads, that require the reader to press the invisible “x” about 8 times, to get past the ad, only to have another one replace the last one, 12 seconds (or less) later. I like the app on iPad, but don’t bother with it much on Galaxy Tab anymore.
