What's New

Talkie is now more walkie-talkie-like than ever! Talkie now connects to other Talkies nearby over bluetooth completely automatically.

Just load up Talkie, and you'll be able to hear and speak to others nearby who are on the same channel number.

Talkie 1.1 also introduces an audio meter, and indicators that show whether there are any Talkies within bluetooth range, or whether Talkie is connected to a wireless network.

--- Praise for Talkie ---

==Slamoo==: " Finally, a walkie talkie application worth downloading. After trawling through some that didn't try hard enough I came across an authentic and user friendly attempt. Childhood memories are flooding back. I feel like building a treehouse or watching Ninja Turtles."

==Gee4orce==: " This is a great, fun app. So simple to use - you just select a channel and press talk. No need to pair with other phones or anything. I especially like the way that you can use a free app on your Mac to talk to the iPhone version."

==jaylll==: " Very good app. It's easy to use and it works well."

==Mark Spur==: " Wow! This app is excellent. This is one of those apps that just simply works. Excellent design like us Apple guys love. They also have a Mac desktop version which will only add to it's value. Look at their website for information on version 2! It will be great!"

Lost in a crowd? Be reunited with your pals at the touch of a button, without spending your hard-earned mobile phone credit.

Stay in contact with study-buddies while you roam the campus. Be prepared to take coffee orders while you're out, though.

Talkie brings back the walkie talkies of our childhood: Morse code buttons, static and that satisfying "Krsh" noise when you pressed the talk button.

Talk to others nearby over Bluetooth. Or, tune in to a wireless network automatically and talk to others running Talkie, or the pixel-icious Talkie for Mac, available now at http://atastypixel.com/products/talkie-for-mac, and absolutely, 100% free and unrestricted for use with Talkie for iPhone! Perfect for use over campus or large office networks, or just talking between rooms.

Coming in Talkie 2.0: When connected to a wireless network, set up a push-to-talk call with anyone over the Internet!

Note to iPod Touch users: While Talkie will run on the iPod Touch, the Touch does not have an inbuilt microphone. So, to be able to talk to others, you'll need to plug in a headset. If you start Talkie without a mac plugged in, you will currently receive an audio error.
