:: A Worthwhile Time Saver :: Read Our Full Review >>A very useful app basically bringing Text Expander to the iPhone.
What's New
** THIS UPDATE REQUIRES IPHONE OS 3.0 OR LATER** Now you can send text to virtually *any* app, INCLUDING SMS! This feature works via the copy-and-paste feature in iPhone OS 3.0. Short hand does the copy function automatically. All you have to do is open the other app, double tap in a text field, and choose "paste".
** The list of apps in the "choose app to send text to" view now shows only the apps that are installed on your iPhone or iPod touch
** Instructions now included in an info view.
** Various bug fixes
App Description
Type much faster by creating abbreviations - or "shortcuts" - that automatically insert frequently used words, phrases, or even whole paragraphs.Write your message or note in "short hand" using these shortcuts, then send the message text over to one of these apps:
Twitterrific
Tweetie
Appigo Notebook
Appigo Todo
more to come...
Short hand does the typing for you. For example, typing "cu" could automatically insert "see you later". Or typing "adr" could insert your entire, 3-line mailing address, including line breaks. "pb" could insert "Patrick L. Barry, MD, Ph.D."
Similar to AutoType on the BlackBerry, AutoText in Microsoft Word, and typing macros in many programs.
Create, modify, or delete an unlimited number of shortcuts
Use shortcuts to insert frequently used words, phrases, or even multiple paragraphs
Shortcuts can insert multiple lines, including line breaks
Type using the vertical, portrait keyboard or the horizontal, landscape keyboard, which has larger keys that make typing easier and faster
(IMPORTANT: Sending text to 3rd party apps such as Twitterrific will only work if you have those apps installed)
(NOTE: Short hand does **NOT** make these typing shortcuts work *while* you're typing inside of other applications. That's not possible using the provided app development tools. You must type your messages using the short hand app, then send the text to Mail or other apps when you're done. Some users were confused by the original wording of application's description, which I've changed to make more clear.)
