App Description

The cityscape is often marked by urban art: Paintings, graffiti, stencils, paste-ups, stickers make our daily walks more colorful, more artful, sometimes more meaningful.

The adidas Urban Art Guide iPhone application allows you to discover urban art where it takes place – the streets, hidden backyards, in hallways, behind fences or in remote places.

You can also interact with the Guide: If you explore new works of street art, you can send your suggestions to the editorial staff directly via your iPhone. Furthermore all pictures can be rated, commented and recommended to others.

The adidas Urban Art Guide application includes:

“Find Artworks Nearby”: Locate yourself on the map. Find urban artworks nearby. Get information on the artworks and artists. Get guidance from your location to the selected artwork of your interest.

“Tour Guide”: Selection of suggested urban art tours.

“Gallery”: Images of the finest urban art in a mobile gallery with background information.

The Urban Art Guide is available for the follwing cities:

- Berlin
- Hamburg

HOW IT WORKS

“Find Artworks Nearby”
Search your local environment for artworks by using the “Locate Me” button. Your position will be shown on the map and you will see which artworks are in the area nearby. Pushing an artwork’s mark allows viewing the artwork itself, the address and background information regarding the piece as well as the artist. A click on “Route” will show you the path from your current location to the selected artwork on the map.

“Tour Guide”
Click on “Tour Guide” to view curated urban art tours in the city you’ve chosen, then select a desired tour which will guide you through the city while seeing unique urban artworks.

“Gallery”
Scroll the gallery with plenty of urban art pieces to see some of the best pieces. A click on a selected piece will provide you with information and enlarged images.

“Favorites”
Favorites allows you to mark your preferred artworks as favorites. By choosing the filter option the map shows your favorites only.

“Lost”
The Lost-function shows those artworks that are not existing in the shown condition anymore. They might be partially destroyed, gone entirely or replaced by new pieces. The Lost-function thus gives you the opportunity to follow the history of a specific place. In the map they are highlighted with light blue markers.

“Filter”
You can filter the markers on the map as to All, New, Favorites, Events and Lost. New shows the latest presented artworks. Favorites shows only those artworks that you’ve marked as favorites. Events shows all urban art events in your vicinity. Lost shows those artworks that are gone or destroyed.

In addition to the iPhone application, the Urban Art Guide website www.urbanartguide.com features pictures of international artworks, artist portraits and interviews as well as event and book recommendations.
