Description
MoleculeSketch is a simple and easy to use drawing App for chemical formulas and reactions.
It has following features:
+ add atoms and bonds nicely by position locking (can be disabled)
+ choose different bond types (double, stereochemical, delocalised, etc.)
+ add bonds with higher hapticity
+ type functional groups by double-clicking on symbol
+ show missing hydrogen atoms depending on free valences
+ "grow" and remove hydrogen atoms (*)
+ show non bonding electron pairs on heteroatoms
+ add reaction arrows and text fields
+ access drawing attributes from popover panels
+ calculate average mass and formula of molecules (*)
+ group and arrange objects (*)
+ change background color of drawing area and add a grid
+ copy/paste/cut molecules and drawings
+ paste drawings into other applications
+ import from mol/sdf files (*)
+ use gestures for zooming and rotation
+ import structures from mol- or sdf-files (*)
(*) some of these features and others are only available when using the full version (inApp purchase)
What’s New

- SVG export functionality added. Accuracy of exportet svg image may vary depending on the app used to view the exported svg file.
- with iPadOS 16.1 or newer: new template gallery with more templates (amino acids, carbohydrates, nucleotides)
- a problem, that could have resulted in the loss of added text fields, has been resolved

Extremely Useful but buggy

This app is extremely useful for students. It has all the features i could be looking for. The main drawback is the its buggy (on MacOS and iOS). The zoom feature is weird and the edit panel on iOS is partially off the screen. I wish you could set a canvas size so the zoom feature would actually work. These bugs kind of make it hard to use at time. It they were fixed, things would be so much better.
Feature Request:
- show lone pairs as individual dots rather than lines
- ability to increase length of bond line
- improve quality of exported images
